JON ENGLISH
Jon passed away suddenly on 6 March 2016. We were proud to have Jon as the NSW regional Patron of the CAT Awards since 2014.Jon started his career as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar in 1972. Jon was a noted solo singer and his hit singles include ‘Turn the Page, ‘Six Ribbons’ and ‘Hollywood Seven’.
He was acclaimed for his starring role in the TV series Against the Wind and is a recipient of a TV week Logie Award. His stage career soared through his appearances in The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and HMS Pinafore all with co-star Simon Gallaher. He understood pro/am productions having appeared in Hairspray with Packemin Productions at the Riverside Parramatta and teamed up with Gallaher again in the Harvest Rain production of Spamalot. Jon was a big supporter of what the CAT Awards do in helping to foster up and coming theatre talent in the ACT and in surrounding regional NSW, and was keen to see something of the same calibre grow and expand into other states. |
